Nuri Shakoor, Institute for Economics and Peace Ambassador

Nuri Shakoor, an ambassador for the Institute for Economics and Peace and founder of the nonprofit ARAC International Inc., is a dedicated advocate for human rights, peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and public safety. As a former U.S. government contractor, he brings valuable experience to his mission to advance Positive Peace. Nuri is a certified Security Risk Management Professional (SRMP-C) at the country level and an active member of the International NGO Safety and Security Association (INSSA).

Currently, Nuri's primary projects include serving as an independent researcher and security risk analyst partnered with IOSI Global Consultancy, a renowned international think tank. The consultancy specializes in developing innovative solutions to address both existing and emerging threats, working towards the advancement of public safety, international security, peace-building, and human rights across public, private, humanitarian, and civil society sectors. Nuri's affiliation with IOSI Global began through a partnership with ARAC International, a nonprofit data research and security risk management consultancy. As a Researcher and Content Provider for IOSI Global, Nuri contributes to the following working groups:

• International Intelligence and Security Forum: Conducting data and conflict analysis, developing content analysis analytic platforms, and designing frameworks to counter malign influence.

• Counter-Terrorism and Geopolitical Security: Providing in-depth research on global security threats, analyzing geopolitical conflicts, and creating strategies to combat terrorism.

• Countering Dangerous Times Global Working Group: Engaged in comprehensive studies of emerging global crises, assessed risks, and formulated countermeasures to address complex security challenges.

Nuri's primary focus at ARAC revolves around armed conflict and context analysis for the purpose of peacebuilding to support humanitarian initiatives in Africa. He collaborates strategically with various international organizations aligned with Sustainable Development Goals and the U.S. Global Fragility Act (US GFA), playing a crucial role in shaping research and solutions in these regions.

In addition to his work with NGOs and non-profit organizations, Nuri is a cybersecurity/insider threat risk management consultant and OpenAI solutions provider for Lladner Business Solutions, LLC. In this role, he not only assists organizations in protecting their data by raising awareness about insider threats, but also demonstrates his versatility by developing and deploying AI solutions to assist NGOs and civil society organizations with framework development, risk assessments, research, training, and SDG support. Nuri regularly contributes to Open AI's GPT Marketplace, developing customized GPT models to perform specialized tasks related to global security, media literacy, & content analysis. 

FUN FACT: Nuri has taken courses in International Humanitarian Law for two reasons:

1. To reinforce and broaden conflict analysis skills.

2. The fun fact, to understand and develop curated notes and resources to train a highly capable Open AI GPT with a full nuanced understanding of IHL

 As a consultant with ARAC, via my partnership with Lladner Business Solutions, LLC. I assist organizations and businesses in aligning their projects and missions with USAID and US GFA frameworks, drawing on contextual research, risk assessments, analytics, and practical expertise to ensure their success.

The US GFA, signed into law in December 2019, lays out a bold 10-year strategy to prevent conflict and stabilize fragile states—key drivers of extremism, migration, and poverty.
